A healthy environment helps flow of energy in your space promoting better health - physical as well as mental. Most powerful space pollution can be created by the presence of electromagnetic fields (EMFs). AC electric fields and AC magnetic fields and even PBX board are potential EMF. These fields come mainly from power-lines, wiring and grounding systems within the building, and appliances that are plugged in. When a home or building is polluted with excessive EMFs, it can have significant implications.
High EMF's can produce sleep disturbance, nervousness, allergies, inability to focus or concentrate, fatigue, headaches and bed-wetting in children. According to research carried out by feng shui related institutions abroad have found that when EMFs have been eliminated, those people who were sick responded well and began recovery. Those people who were healthy noticed beneficial changes in how they slept and their overall energy level. There are some anecdotal studies linking high EMFs to cancer and childhood leukemia as well.
Electricity powering our homes and offices produces both AC electric and magnetic fields. Magnetic fields are present when current flows to power appliances, lights, and anything requiring electricity. These magnetic fields are measured in Gauss units or milli gauss units. Electric fields, on the other hand, are produced by the wiring in the walls, floors and ceilings and are present even when the appliance or light is not turned on.
Similar the effect of Electric Radiation (ELF) generated by low voltage currents running through electric wires, though these are not as powerful and destructive like unclear or X-ray radiation.
Just by turning a light off doesn't mean the voltage isn't affecting you. The electric fields are measured in volts or milli volts. The best defense against exposure to EMF's is avoidance. We will never eliminate all the effects of EMF's but we can minimize them as much as possible. Take a cue from the followings to reduce EMFs in your vicinity and environment.
· Bedroom is the most crucial room to eleminate EMFs. This is the room where we try to rest and rejuvenate. It is also where we become most vulnerable during the night and most susceptible to impacts from outside sources. Switch off your bedroom wiring from the main in the night and use of torch light is safer.
· During sleep we produce melatonin which, if in a depleted state, leaves our immune system vulnerable. This is also a room in which we spend a considerable amount of time, usually from six to eight hours.
· Something as simple as an electric alarm clock or a clock radio near your head can produce high EMF's. Using a battery operated clock is the best option. Electric blankets and electric heating pads emit extraordinarily high EMF's and should be avoided at all costs.
· If you must use an electric blanket or an electric heating pad, I recommend you plug it in for a while before you get into bed, and then unplug it totally as you're crawling under the covers. A good old-fashioned hot water bottle is a better solution.
· Water-beds with heaters are notorious for exposing people to high EMFs. As with the electric blankets, heat the water for a while first before getting into bed, then unplugs the heater entirely before you go to sleep.
· Likewise, avoid having stereos and television sets near your body as you sleep in your bed. Unwisely, some people have installed stereo in their bed-head.
· Watching Television should be at a distance of at least six feet, which need be still more for large screen TVs.
· Switch off from main or unplug your electrical gadgets after use.
· Pregnant women should either avoid using video display terminals or reduce its use.
· Cell phone should be used with a ear phone and mike.
· A good practice is to check the service panel for electricity coming into your house or room and avoid sitting, sleeping or working near such panel.
· Baby monitors radiate large amounts of EMFs and should not be put in children's cribs.
· Avoidance of EMFs near an ailing person can assist in healing process. In most cases, non-essential circuits can be turned off at night without a problem.
· Avoid refrigerator and air conditioner or heaters being on the same circuit passing through your bedroom.
· A minimum of eight to ten feet from a running microwave oven.
· Avoid sitting near the back of a computer system.
· Use of non-electrical razor or hair-dryer is recommended.
Deviation from Vaastu or Feng Shui principles is highly recommended to avoid EMFs pollution until the EMF emanation is treated by rerouting or rearranging. The bed better be placed in an environmentally safe spot than that recommended by Vaastu or feng shui.
By combining the science of electro-biology and geo-biology (Vaastu and Feng Shui), we can certainly create environment that is healthy. When an environment is healthy and stable it follows that people will be creative, productive and live with harmony and balance.
