SELECTING GOOD LOCATION

Feng Shuiattaches great importance to the family welfare by taking care of all the members of the family individually. Date of birth is an important determinant of the birth element of a person. Alternatively, an assessment of the daily life activities and emotional responses prove quite helpful in deciding the elemental traits.  The energies are optimised for the benefit of the occupant based upon the elements of the members of the family or the owners of an organisation individually.  The treatment can be easily changed according to the changing priorities of the occupant as and when required.

Main Door:

Primarily chi enters through the main door and passed through the entrance hall and individual room or areas, here is the guideline to treat the individual areas or rooms. Main door should not be afflicted of any killing or poison arrows. Looking out, there should be no sharp corners, satellite dishes, lamp posts or other sha chi directing at your door. It should be well treated. It is always better to have some space outside the main door for the chi to settle down. Hedges, fences and shrubs are the best way to energize the entry.  A water feature to the left side of the main door is very auspicious - which may be a bird bath or a fountain. In the absence of space near the main door, a light placement is recommended.

If the main door is at the foot of a flight of stairs, it will cause poor health to the family members. Correction is by way of the threshold by one or two centimeters so that you have to step over it.  The same principle applies in case of the main door faces the elevator door.

In case the main door is at the top of a flight of steps, the expenditure will be higher than the income.  Place a mirror outside the house to deflect the negative chi.

Direction of the Main Door:
Direction of the main door should, preferably, be in accordance of the life situation of the head of the family.

Entrance Hall:
The best entrances are wide enough to allow the chi to settle and accumulate before moving into the house. The balance of yin and yang is to be maintained by placement of appropriate lights or colours. Door mats are good to welcome the chi into the house, the colour of which should be according to the entrance direction. A light can be placed near the main door if it is not yang.

Hallways & Corridors:
Hallways and corridors are like the meridian of the body. The chi should move smoothly and not run away. Avoid killing arrows of the angular furniture. Neutral colours and even light is to be maintined.

Mirrors are better placed on either side of the hallways or corridors to slow the fast movement of the Chi. Plants can be placed if case the flow is very fast. If door or windows are present, they must be kept closed. If the movement of chi is slow, crystal hung in the centre is helpful.

Stairs:
1.      Spiral staircases are not good feng shui. Avoid them in the central areas. If unavoidable, hang a wind chime at the top or bottom of the stairs to moderate the corkscrew movement of chi.
2.      The stairs should start right from the main door or face each other, if so, hand a wind chime.
3.      The stairs should be solid, not allowing the chi to seep down through the stairs.
4.      A toilet next to the main door is not recommended, if so, keep the door closed or place a mirror on the side of the door.

Living Room:
1.      The living room should necessarily be a regular in shape, if not, treat the extended or missing sections carefully.
2.      Stagnating chi around the alcoves, placement of plants or crystals will help chi being energized.
3.      Beams, if present, should be treated by bamboo flutes, or by wind chimes.
4.      The entry to the living room may be provided of a wind chime.
5.      Furniture should be so arranged to allow free flow of chi, and easy view of the main door. Bagua shaped arrangement is best.
6.      Central part of the living room should be freer.  If there is a centre table, place a flower vase.
7.      Placement of plants is good to make the chi healthier. Avoid spiky plants.
8.      Angular furniture items and open bookcases should be avoided.
9.      Yang should be slightly more in vogue in the living room.
10.  Natural lights are best, however, dimmer switches can be provided in the table lamps.
